Restifo, Len Russo, Joseph Paterniti, Guy Papa, Carl Russo, Francesca Russo, Angelo Zingales, Rosann Zingales, Sam Schillero, Toni Calafiura, Rosalia Marzullo, Katherine Randazzo Cipriano, Joe Lazzara, Paul Castellano, Total Present: Members – 18 Guests - 0 OPENING President Cipriano called the meeting to order at 11:30 a.m. with the reading of the opening prayer. A motion was made by Leo Zingale to accept the previous minutes as submitted, seconded by Guy Papa. Motion passed. MEMBERSHIP
Len Russo reported that we now have 230 members, with no applications for new membership. TREASURER’S REPORT Treasurer, Paul DeLuca could not attaend the meeting and will submit his report at the next meeting. COMMITTEE REPORTS SUNSHINE Our prayers and thoughts are with: Joe Galati who is in Fairview Hospital, anticipating a release on Monday or Tuesday. COMMUNICATIONSReminder: If any member has moved or has a new phone number, please notify Leo Zingale or President Cipriano of your new information. OLD BUSINESS San Leone Picture: After investigating the situation, President Cipriano suggested two options for the repair of the picture. Option #1 is we can remove the old tape holding the picture & frame and try to fix it ourselves. Option #2 is to have a professional company restore it using the original frame, with new glass and new sealing foam to insulate the picture, so it would last another 100 years. The cost would be around $300.00 Rosann Zingales made a motion to have it professionally restored and it was seconded by Donna Zinagale. The motion passed.
Reverse Raffle: The reverse raffle was held Oct. 25th at NEW BUSINESS Christmas Party: Reservations have started to come in. Remember, new for this year, the cost for our Christmas party will be $5.00 for members 16 and older and non-members living at home with them. Costs for non-members not living with members will remain the same as last year. NOTE: You must call for reservations.
Know a Santa? Our “Santa Claus” is not able to make this year’s party, so if you know of a “Santa” please contact President Cipriano with the information
Nominations for Officers for 2009: Rosann Zingales made a motion that the currently serving officers be re-nominated. The motion was seconded by Donna Zingale. President Cipriano asked for the names of any other members to be put into nomination. There were none, so the motion was passed. Restifo Thank You! Paul Castellano thanked the San Leone Society members that attended his brother’s wake. Longi Calendars: Tony Fazio is ordering Calendars from Longi again this year. The cost is only $10.00 each, which will go to the church in Longi. Please contact Tony or President Cipriano if you want to order one. 2009 Masses: Leo Zingale has set up the 2009 masses at St Rocco Church for 2009. The dates are Sunday February 15 and Sunday May 17th. Mark your calendar! Meeting Hall: Due to ongoing renovations, we cannot meet at the K of C Hall in December. (PLEASE NOTE THE NEW LOCATION SHOWN BELOW)
Scholarship raffle: Mary Zingale picked the winning ticket for November. The winner was Sandra Bisard, daughter of Josephine Belsito. Congratulations Sandra! Door Prize Raffle: We conducted our first raffle for members attending the monthly meeting. Angela Zingale Tummino picked the following winners: Guy Papa won $10.00, Rosalia Marzullo and Joseph Paterniti won boxes of chocolate candy.
CLOSING There was no further business. President Cipriano adjourned the meeting with the reading of the closing prayer. The “kind Wendy’s employee” is Marlena Lazzara and the “thoughtful employee from Gallucci’s Import Store” is Frank E. Restifo. Congratulations Marlena and Frank!
The Cleveland Cavaliers will be honoring veterans at their Veterans Day game on Tuesday, November 11th. As part of their tribute, President Cipriano’s “Mothers of Military” group was contacted and President Cipriano is one of the military mothers in a video tape tribute to the veterans. Their messages will be broadcast at the “Q” during the game.
